3km, 5km, 10km and 21km events - The Choice is Yours
Yes it's cold, it's winter and your motivation to get outdoors at the moment is probably waning. Having a set goal in mind can help you keep your fitness on track through the cooler months, when all you want to do is roll over and hit the snooze button.
The Sandy Point Half Marathon is a realistic goal to have on your calendar if you're prepared to start training now. This popular event is on the 27th of August 2017, which gives you a few months to build up the kilometres in preparation for the big event.
The great thing about this event is that you can choose to enter the distance that challenges YOU. Whether your goal is to complete your first half marathon (21km), to set a personal best time in the 10km event, or perhaps just to finally run your first ever 5km event. Everyone has different goals and the Sandy Point Half Marathon has something for everyone, including the kids!
I'm not sure about you, but I know that I'm going to thoroughly enjoy challenging myself to train every day during the winter months to prepare myself for the 'Sandy Half'. I find it difficult to leave the warmth of my home, but once I'm out, there is no better feeling in the world. Nothing beats the sound of your own feet gently touching the ground, hearing your own breath in the quietness of a still morning, seeing the sunrise on a winter's day and just getting the feeling that running gives you of 'being alive'.
It doesn't matter how fast or how slow you run. Running is about the enjoyment of getting out there, putting one foot in front of the other, enjoying the stress relief of daily life, finding your 'zone', having fun, meeting new people and being proud of your achievements, no matter how big or small. You can do anything you put your mind to!
