The International Year of Indigenous Languages is a United Nations observance in 2019 that aims to raise awareness of the consequences of the endangerment of Indigenous languages across the world, with an aim to establish a link between language, development, peace, and reconciliation.

To celebrate International Year of Indigenous Languages as well as International Women's Day, author Sandra Delany will be the Guest Speaker at the Victoria Point Library on Friday, 8th of March.

Sandra is a local woman from Quandamooka country who has dedicated many years of research to maintain and strengthen Quandamooka culture. She is passionate about preserving Aboriginal knowledge and the cultural heritage of Quandamooka.

Quandamooka Dreaming, published in 2013, also features many of Sandra's paintings.

Commencing at 10am and finishing at 11am, Ms Delany will be sharing language means as an Aboriginal woman.
