Sandgate, along with the adjoining suburbs of Shorncliffe and Brighton, together form one of the most beautiful and unique bayside regions in Brisbane. From one end (Shorncliffe) to the other (Brighton), the total walking distance along the waters edge is just 5 to 6kms.

Unique because it is one of the few seaside suburbs that primarily has residential properties along the waterfront, rather than being saturated with shops and commercial premises. Sandgate itself is still and will always be classified as a 'village' due to limited land expansion capabilities in this compact little place.
BBQ's are dotted along the waterfront
People flock here during the weekends as it offers beautiful parks, playgrounds, picnic areas, fishing options, BBQ shelters, water frontage and high and low ground picnic spots. If you can't be bothered with pre-organising your food for a barbie, simply grab some fish and chips or takeaway pizzas from one of the locals and sit right on the waters edge to enjoy.
