Famous 'strips' in the world include those such as Sunset Boulevard in Los Angelos and 'The Strip' on Las Vegas Boulevard. However, while not 'world famous' here in Sandgate, 4017 residents have their own renowned local 'strip' which is 'Flinders Parade and it is host to most of the local 'Fish and Chip' shops.

The Strip' , right on the waterfront, services locals, holiday makers along with an abundance weekend and day visitors, so lets highlight the 'local strip' and see whats on offer.

Dougs Seafood, fish and chips sandgate

Always popular with the locals, great fish and chips, superb salads, burgers,(meat only), merlo coffee and a selection of cakes. Doug's is a busy place but it runs efficiently, so you don't generally have to wait to long for your food.
Open 7 days 8am-8pm. (although it appears some Mondays Dougs may close due to weather)

Fish on Flinders

Fish on Flinders, Sandgate Fish and Chips

General fish and chips, seafood, burgers (meat and vegetarian), and some salad selections. Flinders also offers gluten free batter, cakes and biscuits which allows the place to make claim to a few differences on the strip. Flinders has the largest outdoor seating arrangement. Open 7 days 8am-8pm and serves beer and wine.

Sandgate Fishmonger

Fishmonger, fish and Chips Sandgate

Newest edition to 'the strip', offering simple tasty fish, chips, and great burgers (meat only), along with simple salads. Fishmongers operates as a straight forward 'Fish and Chip' Shop and the area is slightly smaller than the others. However Fishmongers does have some outdoor seating options, Coffee and tea is available, no cakes. Open Wed to Sundays from 8am to 7.30pm, (although we have turned up at 7.15pm when they have been getting ready to close the doors), so best to check if coming a little later.

As with any seaside suburb there are a few more Fish and Chip shops around the region, however most people flock to Flinders Parade, (The Strip), due to the gorgeous location.

One thing to note about Doug's Seafood Cafe - they don't Eftpos! Remember to carry sufficient cash on you if you eat here. It is also fitted with outdoor cafe blinds which makes a big difference in windy or wet weather. Fast service and food portions generous.
