I'm a part time actor and part time writer living in Perth. I love being on stage. I love going out with friends, doesn't matter what we do

A new restaurant in Scarborough Beach
Taking up a place on the popular Scarborough foreshore is the newest bar/restaurant, The Sandbar, the name of which was chosen after a competition, is located right next to the Scarborough round about and across from the Rendezvous Hotel. This venue only recently opened at the end of August and has a 'no booking' policy, although they still accept bookings of 15 or more.

This was where my work decided to have our Christmas party. I arrived a little late to find some starters already on our table. There was trio of dips and 'Try the Lot' which included Mediterranean bruschetta, chilli squid and buffalo wings (these were really tasty!).

Trio of Dips

After enjoying a few of these to share, we all ordered individual main meals including pizzas, salads and some burgers (unfortunately I forgot to take more photos).

While waiting for our meals, I checked out the venue; it was very clean and well presented, with enough space between tables that you didn't feel crammed in. The acoustics though make it difficult to converse when there are a lot of people there.

The Downstairs Bar
When our meals did arrive I will admit I was a little disappointed. I ordered one of the pizzas, and my partner ordered the fish & chips with the intention of us sharing the two. The pizza was lacking in toppings, with only about one item per bite, also the fish wasn't very nice (being frozen not fresh) and the tartare sauce tasted 'funky'.

I'm not too sure how the rest of the table felt about their meals, but the salad looked like a good sized portion.

Considering the atmosphere as a whole and the look of the venue, I'd be happy to go back and try again, putting this slightly disappointing meal down to being newly open and still finding their feet.
