Sanctus is an award-winning sustainably minded and picturesque brewery, offering an exquisite selection of unique and delicious beers, mouth-watering meals and a sun-soaked lawn on which to relax and unwind. Opening in October 2019, Sanctus sits just 20 minutes outside Yamba and is an unmissable gem when visiting the area.
Sanctus offers 9 delicious beers, including Pacific Coast Lager, Valley Pale Ale, Big River XPA, Triple B Stout, Judicious Mid, Blueberry Crush, Ginger Beer, Pina Colada Smash, as well as a range of unique seasonal flavours. Tasting beer paddles enable visitors to try a range of flavours before settling on a favourite. The Triple B Stout, with its unique smoky after tones, was a clear winner for me, while the Pina Colada Smash, a sour which recently won a peoples choice award at Gold Coast's crafted beer and cider festival, is a crowd-pleaser. For those who are eager to continue their brewery experience beyond their visit, Sanctus has created the Pathfinder Beer Club, through which subscribers receive seasonal 4-packs and a variety of other exclusive merchandise. For those non-beer drinkers, Sanctus also distills gin, as displayed by the impressive, fantastical gin still which immediately caught my eyes upon entry. Brewer Muz explained that Sanctus is in the process of expanding to add rum and whiskey to the ever-growing range of delicious and unique Sanctus products.
The Sanctus menu is diverse, fresh and flavourful, offering a range of pizzas, burgers, 'brew bites' and desserts. The passion for beer extends into the menu, presenting beef stout pie, pale ale battered fish and chips and beer-battered onion rings. A crowd favourite is the Chinese barbecue duck pizza, made with freshly rolled dough and garnished with spring onion picked from the brewery's very own sustainable vegetable and herb garden. The trio of tacos was my personal favourite, the deep-fried local whiting with mango salsa a clear winner. The menu offers gluten friendly options and kids meals. The crew at Sanctus are passionate about sustainability, having installed 300 solar panels, a water tank, worm farm and the growing vegetable and herb garden to complement the fresh menu.
