Well, who doesn't like a few hours shopping at Westfield Shopping Centre? Miss A and I headed off for a long overdue shopping spree (mainly for her of course).

Now the best bit I enjoy about shopping is the coffee break or lunch break that you have to have to peruse over our bought items, thinking what bargains you were able to find and how much money we saved.

Today Miss A and I, longing for a lunch break, found a hidden treasure in the corner of Westfield in the Office Tower, ground floor under the food court, called the Sanctuary Tea House. On entry we found rustic table and chairs, with old tins and samples of their products displayed on old wooden crates (reminded me of my childhood in Mum's kitchen pantry).

Teacups hung from the ceiling with chalk drawings, prams and wheelchairs decorated the place with families busy with their loved ones.

The place had a very relaxed atmosphere which is normally impossible to find at any shops on a Saturday so we found a table and Miss A went to order our lunch.

The Sanctuary Tea House has a fantastic range of tarts and light meals including a wonderful assortment of exclusive teas and coffees. We both chose the Vietnamese chicken roll (other meats available) with crunchy julienne vegetables, salad and herbs (with or without chili) and a very generous smother of pate spread on the crispy white Vietnamese roll.

A very healthy alternative to bulk made burgers and greasy chips.
Other light meals included sandwiches, croissants, quiche and raisin toast and of course many teas and coffees available. Both Miss A and I had our favourite, Chai Latte, our treat when we go out together.

The rolls come on recyclable bamboo plates which reminds me of the 80's with recyclable napkins and table cloths. Feeling very full but a bit naughty we decided to share a blueberry tart (gluten free). It was smooth and creamy a bit like nanna's cheesecake and we were both a bit disappointed that after a couple mouthfuls each it was gone but of course our waistline will thank us later, it was delicious.

The Sanctuary Tea House is a great place to stop and relax and keep out of the usual run of the mill places to eat. If you stop by the Concierge they have vouchers for pots of tea ($3.00), tea/coffee and cake ($7.50) and their speciality (my vote) is their Vietnamese roll and a drink for $10.00. Plus can check on your emails with free wi-fi.
