(at Hope Island on the Gold Coast), is a 474 hectare, fully contained residential estate. According to the website, 'is a destination in itself', characterised by 'a truly unique combination of unrivalled facilities and amenities'. Fortunately for us mere members of the public, one can still enjoy without dropping several hundred thousand dollars on a mortgage.

The estate's Marine Village is a shopping and entertainment precinct located beside the Marina. Perfect for a day trip or a night out, the Marine Village offers shopping, dining and marine services within a peaceful, picturesque setting.

With more than a dozen cafes, restaurants and bars, is a good venue for brunch, dinner or Sunday afternoon drinks. Grab a snack or a meal; there's Italian, tapas, sushi and everything in between; or simply spend your day with a few bevies at a waterside al fresco bar.

The retail arena provides a good selection of boutiques offering fashion, jewellery, health and beauty, home wares, art and confectionary. The Gourmet Food Markets make an appearance on the second and fourth Saturday morning and the twilight Moonlight Markets take place on the third Thursday evening of the month. You won't find any chain stores here so if you're looking for something unique, the Marine Village is the place to find it.

For golfing enthusiasts, there's the Golf and Country Club, a fancy 18 hole course (the club even has a dress code.) You must be a member to play and membership is open to the public.

So if you'd like to get out of Brisbane for a couple of hours and enjoy a stylish, laid back 'destination', say hello to .
