This is an annual all things fishing event on 14th September 2019 from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm. It will be held at San Remo Foreshore, 170 Marine Parade, San Remo, Victoria.
This is sure to be a fun-filled event, celebrating the town's history, its local produce and all and everything fishing.
The main event is the traditional Blessing of the Fleet. This is for lovers of seafood. Visit the marquee to watch fishing industry displays, watch how to cook and fillet demonstrations, and eat some of Bass Strait's finest fare. There will also be industry stalls, food stalls, wine tastings and lots more.
You will be able to learn how to cast for competitions, float tossing and deckie races cruise and face painting. There will be something there for all ages. There is even some of South Gippsland's finest produce, best food and wine stalls, where you will be able to taste and take home.
[b]BLESSING OF THE FLEET**
This origin started off in Sicily some hundreds of years ago and allowed for a safe and plentiful season for fishermen. It was a local tradition with the first blessing in 1955 and it was around Couta and crayfish boats. This year, all those commercial and recreational boats are invited to take part, and there is no cost for this event.

[b]DECKIE RACES**
Seafood Industry Victoria presents the San Remo Fishing Festival Deckie Races. Why not get your best two teams for this annual race along the San Remo foreshore? Here you can showcase your skills with a mix of easy deckie talents. $1000.00 prize money is up for grabs.
[b]STRAIT TO PLATE**
Strait to Plate is a gala dinner, celebrating Bass Strait seafood on 13th September 2019. It will be held along the San Remo foreshore in a lovely marquee setting. This is a great food experience combining locally produced wines with delicious seafood from the waters of Bass Strait. The food will be prepared by local chefs.
At this gala dinner, there will be:
Tasmanian Oyster bar
Local wines
Delectable seafood canapes
Local beef to accompany some of the freshest Bass Strait seafood
Live music
Roaming Bowl food
Main of Beef or Seafood
Matched Wine with Main
Dessert and cheese platters with coffee
Full bar service available for drink purchases.
Live entertainment
Interviews with local Fishermen, telling the history of the San Remo fishing fleet
Historical photography display and slide show.
Much more
And all this while dining on the picturesque foreshore! Doing the cooking for this function is both the kitchens at the Westernport Hotel and the Phillip Island Winery.
