Generous serves of irresistible churros
We dropped into San Churro Chocolateria for a quick chocolate fix and ended up blown away by the selection of dessert creations on offer.
Sometimes known as Spanish doughnuts, churros are fried dough strips made by piping dough through a star-shaped nozzle. Churros are dusted with sugar and cinnamon then usually served with a pot of chocolate dipping sauce. In addition to the classic options of milk chocolate, dark chocolate and white chocolate, San Churro also offers their new ruby chocolate dip.
Ruby chocolate is the first new chocolate variety discovered in more than 80 years and San Churro was the first national Australian retailer to serve ruby chocolate at its restaurants. Derived from unlocking natural flavours occurring in ruby cocoa beans, ruby chocolate has a fruity flavour and a distinctive pink colour.
We chose to try the churros snack packs, which were packed full with generous serves of freshly cooked churros. The Original Churros Snack Pack, which I had as a mini snack pack, is topped with strawberries, bananas and your choice of chocolate sauce.
The Cookie Smasheo Churros Snack Pack, which included smashed Oreo cookies, ice cream and two choices of chocolate sauce, was a regular size and might have been big enough for two to share, depending on your appetite of course.
