Sammy J, is an award winning comedian best known for his work along side the booze loving, foul mouthed puppet Randy. The duo made audiences laugh for years and have appeared on Australian TV regularly.
This was until in March, when the duo decided to part ways and try their hands at solo shows at this year's Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Sammy J's show, 'Potentially' is a charming mix of classic stand up and musical comedy.
The show itself centres around Sammy J's childhood attempts and penning a children's book, which was rejected by all publishers due to not having any central character or narrative. Having re-written the story, the audience is read the new and improved version, with a blend of observational humour and song and dance numbers thrown into the mix.
The musical numbers really do make this show. From a song about having a man grab your hand on a plane during turbulence then ignoring you, to to a very catchy ode to the 'F' word. You'll find yourself humming them to yourself days after the fact.
'Potentially' is running from the 9th of April to the 21st in the Fairfax studio at the Arts Centre. Tickets are $35 full price or $30 concession. You can also nab tickets for $20 if you choose to go on a Tuesday.
If you get the chance, definitely check this show out. It is a thoroughly entertaining and eclectic hour of comedy.
