I doubt that there are many better examples of the power of comedy to deliver a hard message than Sami Shah's Islamofarcist. In fact, I'll go out on a limb and say that it should be compulsory viewing for most of the Western world. Sami manages to explain and demystify Islam and Muslims in just one hour, in a stellar display of politically and socially aware comedy.

Don't worry if that sounds a little deep and meaningful. There are plenty of gags - at the expense of every major religion. Sami is now and atheist and, as he explains so well, he's now afraid of all of them. His contrast between the messages of Christianity and Islam is very poignant. If you aren't a religious scholar, I have no doubt that you'll be surprised at the "Quran or Bible?" section.

This is such a clichéd phrase now, but Sami Shah really is at the top of his game. As he admits, he was converted to the power of comedy to raise issues in a way that makes them safe but, most importantly, so very understandable. This show is very funny, makes you think, and I think you'll leave feeling pretty good about the actual fate of the world. The good news, if I can paraphrase the show, is that no-one really cares enough to do anything bad to each other. We're saved by mundanity.
