Get everything your garden needs
It has been said that "to nurture a garden is to feed just not the body but the soul." (Alfred Austin)
As COVID 19 kept us at home for extended times, many have looked around their house and decided that it is the perfect time to put in some extra effort to clear, spruce and re-design their gardens. For some, it was getting into those overgrown projects. For others, gardening was a chance to plant a food source through fruits, vegetables and herbs.
And now as restrictions begin to lift, it's an opportunity to further make all of those plans. As a bonus, the clear winter days will be an added incentive to make your green space sing in time for spring.
About Samford Valley Garden Centre The Samford Valley Garden Centre is located in the Main Street of the pretty, rural village close to Brisbane. The centre is self-described as an "old fashioned service with great quality nursery and on-trend gift shop."
With an assortment of plants, gifts and garden décor, there is a lot to find in this rural nursery. As COVID 19 has had many of us looking to be more self-sustaining, vegetable and herb seedlings are right there to select from. For more general garden design, the centre has an assortment of trees, indoor plants and hanging baskets, floral seedlings, hardy drought-tolerant succulents, and flowering bromeliads.
And to finish it all off, garden ornaments and statues (including cheeky garden gnomes and spiritual buddhas) and pots, rich soils, mulch and fertilisers. So now that you are well stocked with your general garden supplies, there are also a couple of surprising features that make the Samford Valley Garden Centre unique and you will want to see before heading to the shed and check out.
The Fairy Room While I enjoy the variety of plants and flowers, I have to admit that my favourite part of the nursery is the secret, lolly pink nook located beside the main counter space. What could be inside? I carefully duck my head, in a space, clearly built for the wonderous minds and hearts of children, and stumble into the magical world of the fairy room.
While the room is compact, the shelves of the fairy room are filled with teeny tiny, miniature figurines and accessories to create your own magical fairy garden. Red and white toadstools, friendly dragons and fairies (of course) are just some of the features which you can find to make wishes come true and create your own fairy garden.
A fairy told me that it is believed that having fairies in your garden will invite them to sprinkle happy dust and bring good luck to your home. What could be more special? It is just another reminder that you are never too young to start gardening.
Is that a Bird Aviary? Now, this is something you don't normally find in a garden nursery. Not far beside the Fairy Room is a full-size bird aviary. Look out for the family of finches sitting on their perches, just in front of the shed. Finches are small passerine birds which come in a range of colours and are a sweet companion to say 'hello' to as you pass through.
If you are a novice to gardening, the Samford Valley Garden Centre has everything to get you started. If you are an avid gardener, you will be delighted to enjoy the range of plants and accessories to add to your already thriving green space. The friendly and experienced staff are on hand to answer questions or just welcome you to join them in their quest for gardening joy.
