Salvos Stores are a large chain of opportunity shops around Melbourne (and Australia) that sell secondhand preloved items like clothing, DVDs, books, kids toys, bags, shoes, furniture, and other things.
I have visited many Salvos stores around Melbourne since I was a child, as my mother loved going there to buy affordable clothing. My favourite thing about Salvos is that each week they have a 50% off certain coloured tags in the clothing racks. It's quite fun flicking through the clothes and finding the tag colour of the week to score it for half price.
Salvos Stores have recently been getting new items in for sale as well. which is handy if you need to pickup households items cheaply. Things such as baby wipes, tissues, toilet paper, toothpaste, and others are for sale.
The staff at Salvos have always been generally really nice and helpful. My favourite stores are Carrum Downs, Frankston, Dandenong, Oakleigh and Pakenham.
If you are ever in the Frankston area, I recommend you visit the funky store off Young Street. They have a unique designed staircase with different book titles on the stairs as you walk up. It is a double story store, so it has a lot of stock. My favourite part is the DVDS, as they were all under $3 and a great choice.
Salvos accept donations every day, so if you are doing a clear out, I advise you bring your goods to them
Lastly, a great reason to shop here is that the Salvos gives a portion of the money earned to help out disadvantaged and homeless families.
