On Friday the 9th and Tuesday the 13th of July 2021, you have the opportunity to join on a tour of the mangrove-saltmarsh habitat at Eight Mile Creek Beach in Whyalla. You will learn about the vital link this important ecosystem forms.

Upon arrival, you will be given a plant identification book which you can use during the walk. Referring to the book helps identify some of the salt-tolerant samphire plants growing in the saltmarshes. Shoes suitable for walking is recommended, as well as a hat, sunscreen and bottle of water.

Eight Mile Creek Beach is located just 12 kilometres from Whyalla. Head along Mullaquana Road until the end of the bitumen and then turn off onto the dirt road towards the coast. There is no cost associated with this tour, however, bookings are required via their website .
