Just two minutes drive (or a twenty minute beach walk) from the sleepy town of Kingscliff, lies the upmarket Salt Village, home to luxurious resorts, a string of awarded restaurants, boutiques, day spas and the 'local': Saltbar Beachbar and Bistro.
Created to capture every aspect of the pristine coastline, Saltbar is a multifaceted venue - part trendy bistro, part relaxed beachside pub - with a great cafe, kid's playground and modern function room thrown in for good measure.
Relax in the cosy atmosphere of the bar, let the kids run wild on the 3-storey playground or simply take a load off, beer in hand, on the huge undercover balcony.
Saltbar is first and foremost an amazing coastal location: the uncluttered south Kingscliff coastline, flanked by perfectly manicured parklands, begs you to enjoy its simple beauty. The sound of crashing waves is audible, even on the busiest of nights. Staff are plentiful and courteous, greeting you with an uncomplicated smile and a friendly 'hello'. The Salt Village lifestyle is hard to resist, with afternoons relaxing on the Saltbar veranda easily slipping into an impromptu stay at the nearby resorts.
The team works hard to please with a range of tempting promotions – the current offering, from Executive Chef Mark McConnell, is 'Ten Meals Under $20' including hearty pub food such as Angus Beef Burger and Chips, Snapper Fillets and 250gm Rump Steak & Chips. See their 'What's On' page for their live entertainment lineup and theme nights, including members only events.
Saltbar is fully licensed and reservations are not required for the bistro, which serves lunch from 12noon to 3pm daily, dinner from 5.30pm and is open from 10am daily for coffee, cake or a great selection of Aussie and imported beer and wine. While you're there, check out the range at the adjoining Salt Cellars and continue the celebrations.
