SalamFest Muslim and Indigenous Film Festival
The 500-year-old relationship between Makassan Muslims and Australian Indigenous people is unknown to most of us. Come along and discover the unique stories, traditions, and perspectives behind each film, and gain a deeper understanding of the rich cultural heritage of both Muslim and Indigenous communities.
This exciting event will take place at the Library at the Dock, located on Victoria Harbour Promenade in Docklands from 5 pm to 9 pm.
During the evening you can immerse yourself in a rich cultural experience as you explore the diverse and historical films telling stories of talented Muslim and Indigenous relationships. Meet filmmakers, artists, and custodians of the Yidaki (Didgeridoo)and hear stories that are part of Australian history.

Join us for a vibrant celebration of Muslim arts at SalamFest!
This exciting event will take place at Town Hall Broadmeadows, located on Dimboola Road in Broadmeadows Hume from 12 pm.
Immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of the Muslim community through captivating performances, thought-provoking exhibitions, and engaging workshops.
The showcase will be divided into three captivating themes:
Trade/Exchange: Experience the rich history of First Nations trading with Makassans, where cultures intertwined and goods were exchanged.
Build/Create: Discover the fascinating story of the Cameleers and merchants of the Subcontinent who played a crucial role in building and enriching the region.
Enrich/Beautify: Immerse yourself in the cultures of Turkey, the Middle East, Africa, Bosnia, the Indian Subcontinent and South East Asia which have contributed to the beauty and diversity of Australia.
