Melbourne's CBD is always full of hustle and bustle, from early in the morning to late at night, the city rarely sleeps and neither do the crowds of people who live and visit here every day. Not only is the city full of busy people and a stressed community but too few of those individuals actually take the time to pamper their body, spirit or minds. I have been fortunate enough to have discovered one of Melbourne's best-kept secrets and have decided to let you in on my little piece of heaven. For those of you searching for a superb day spa experience which your body will thank you for later, than explore no further!
Today I am highlighting Sakura Lounge. I have been a regular customer at this day spa since April 2013, attending every month, sometimes twice a month! I have never had a bad experience here and can attest to the miracle workers employed at Sakura Lounge.
This humble day spa is hidden in a quiet unassuming alleyway, found on Warburton Lane, just off of Little Bourke Street. Though this is a trendy area for eateries and specialty stores, one of the best-kept-secrets lies just halfway down the alley to your left. Look for their signature banner and Japanese-style décor.

Sakura Lounge is the brainchild of Jason who found his inspiration when traveling through Japan. He met so many wonderful people and decided to bring a piece of his experience back to Melbourne's CBD to share with you! The client base is broad, from children to seniors. Many local business people utilize the day spa's convenient locale and good value treatments.
The day spa opened in November 2007 and thrives today due to word-of-mouth. They opened a second location in 2012, next door to their current locale and it is designed for large groups and spa packages. Their future looks bright with plans to open another branch in 2015.
When you first walk into Sakura Lounge day spa, you are immediately greeted by waiting staff, who are quick to make you feel comfortable. At first appearance, you cannot help but notice the heavy Japanese influence and the serene Zen music softly playing in the background. You immediately feel at peace. In the traditional Japanese-style, Sakura Lounge goes for the minimalist approach and it works well. Their simplistic décor allows the exquisiteness of the Japanese culture to flow over you.
I have utilized their spa packages and for those I have referred, they agree that when you walk out of Sakura Lounge, you feel like you are walking on air. When I first decided to give Sakura Lounge a try it was for chronic pain. I chose to give shiatsu, which should not be confused with traditional massage, a try after reading many of the testimonials for this treatment. Shiatsu is all about the flow of Chi (energy) and every therapist here is very knowledgeable about the body, muscles and Chi.
Though I highly recommend Sakura Lounge's Japanese shiatsu, which is their signature treatment, they are well known for their massages, beauty and holistic therapies, as well, and for good reason. They offer many specially designed and good value packages, which are unique to Sakura Lounge. Sakura Lounge is adding a Holistic Aroma therapist in October 2014. I will definitely give this one a try.
Just when you thought Sakura Lounge couldn't get any better! They have teamed up with local restaurants that provide fresh Tapas and Sushi platters to spa party guests as an additional option to available packages at Sakura Lounge. I have enjoyed their sushi meal after several of my spa package treatments. Not only does Sakura Lounge utilize local businesses but they are green minded and only use LED lights to reduce their power consumption.
Sakura Lounge is one of Melbourne's best-kept-secrets, that is, until today. Though I would love to be selfish and keep Sakura Lounge all to myself, I would feel remiss if I did not share the wonders of this day spa with you. This is one place that is too good to stay hidden for long. Visit them today for a true Japanese spa experience before they become the hottest place in town.
