Who said the northern suburbs doesn't have good cafe food? Disclaimer: it was me but I've already eaten my hat along with our meal at . They're a family-owned business that's located within the Saints Shopping centre.

Despite having plenty of seating, when we visited on a Sunday afternoon, it was very busy and there were only outdoor seats left. Luckily there was only a slight breeze and they had overhead heaters so it wasn't too chilly.

I'm definite there's something for even the pickiest eater on the brunch menu. There's breakfast classics like chilli eggs and french toast. Or for those with a heftier appetite, you can choose from a delectable selection of pizzas, burgers and even a chicken schnitty. They're very accommodating for dietary requirements since all items are labelled if they're vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free, and whether alternatives are available e.g. vegan cheese on pizza.

For a starter, we ordered the chicken tenders. Personally, I've always seen this as a fast or frozen food when I can't be bothered cooking but I never knew they could taste this good. The chicken was true to its name and actually tender and moist, much unlike the drab and dry ones I've come to expect from my oven.

I was in a dessert mood and couldn't go past the brioche french toast that was served with warm banana, fresh strawberries, macadamia nuts, maple syrup & mascarpone. The fluffy brioche was the perfect carrier for the contrasting sweetness and acidity of the fruits, along with the creamy cheese spread and pops of crunch from the nuts. My one suggestion is if they caramelised the bananas. this would have been next level.

Our visit wasn't without its flaws however. The latte was lacklustre in comparison as it was over-extracted. My partner ordered the eggs benedict which were 'acceptable' although the poached eggs were overcooked in the centre. We also waited about 35 minutes for our food to come out while another table that had arrived after us were able to dig in first. Still, I give credit where it's due and I'd be interested to return and try the rest of their menu.

isn't just a cafe. They're also a licensed restaurant with wine on tap and are open till late for dinner. Their sizeable venue is also suitable for hosting events. So if you've been looking for a place to get together with friends for a feed, why not give them a shot?
