Sahaja Yoga translates as 'Spontaneous Yoga' and is regarded as a form of 'yoga' and 'meditation' that can be easily achieved and can be practised everyday if desired as it does not involve any physical stretches.
Sahaja yoga defines meditation as a state where you are completely conscious, but at the same time completely without thought (thoughtless awareness) - in this state, a new perspective is gained and self-realisation starts to manifest. With regular practice, one can work towards developing a more "moral, united, integrated and balanced personality'."
The founder of Sahaja Yoga, HH Shri Mataji, believed meditation has been sought out to satisfy one's 'seeking', and in 1970, Shri Mataji developed the Sahaja Yoga technique based on kundalini awakening; today there are Sahaja Yoga centres in almost 100 countries!
Sahaja Yoga Introductory Course Outline
Week 1: Introduction to Sahaja Yoga
Mediation is the best way to understand yourself.
Week 2: The Three Channels
Meditation is in the present moment, which is where all living experience occurs.
Week 3: The Seven Chakras
Your innate human qualities are understood through meditation.
Week 4: Vibratory Awareness
Awareness is the greatest source of knowledge.
Week 5: Clearing your Subtle System
The sensations on your hands are the kundalini showing you the state of your chakras. Let your hands become like mirrors.
Week 6: Continue this Journey Within
Your consciousness when cleared of thought and turned inwards becomes a source of joy. Everything you need is already there inside you.
At the conclusion of the 6 week course, participants will have enough tools to meaningfully meditate at home, and will also have the opportunity to continue taking classes and learn more.
