FORM Dance Projects is a unique organisation that aims to foster and develop contemporary dance culture in Western Sydney. The company delivers a vibrant artistic program while also providing access to dance education, appreciation and participation opportunities for the Western Sydney community.

Since it commenced in 2001, FORM Dance Projects has matured from a small dance company into a professional arts organisation with a growing reputation for presenting a high calibre artistic program of contemporary dance works, having partnered with such high profile arts organisations as the Sydney Festival and the Australian Chamber Orchestra.

For a strictly limited season, from 9th - 12th April 2014, FORM Dance Projects is presenting the premiere of director/choreographer Samantha Chester's Safety in Numbers. Samantha brings over 18 years' experience working with the physical form; first as a dancer and then in her role as director and choreographer. Samantha has worked as a movement consultant for Sydney Theatre Company, Belvoir, Griffin, Milk Crate Theatre and Monkey Baa, and has worked with the Wallabies Rugby Union Team. She was recently awarded a Churchill Fellowship.

Inspired by the true stories of disaster survivors, Safety in Numbers is a dance-theatre work that presents five people who find themselves trapped in the aftershock of an earthquake, wrestling with the possibility that this could be the end. The production asks the big question, who do you want to be at the moment of impact? And what will be important to you - will it be the money you have, the clothes you wear - or will it be the small things in life, the intimate details, that you value?

This new work features Danielle Micich, Gavin Clark, Leeke Griffin, Simon Corfield and Anya McKee, with original composition by Turkish-Australian sound designer Ekrem Mulayim and design by recent Sydney Theatre Company resident designer David Fleischer.

Samantha Chester comments: 'It is an absolute gift to take this work to full presentation...We are very excited to share this work with an audience. '

The venue for Safety in Numbers is Riverside Theatres, Parramatta . Tickets are $28 for adults and $25 for concession. For more information about the show, or to purchase tickets, please go to the Riverside Theatres website .
