This year, City of Perth and City of Vincent will be hosting an event to help the community learn cyber-savvy skills so that they can stay safe online. Both events will be hosted by Terrene Global whose goal is to reduce cybercrime by over $1 million in our community. They way they plan to achieve this is by educating the community with superhero cyber skills which will help them outsmart the scammers and hackers.
State Library of Western Australia - Cyber Safety Workshop
Participants will learn how to spot and handle scams and suspicious emails. They will also learn to become an 'Online Cyber Detective' by looking for some key indicators for a potential hack. Lastly, participants can have a go at the phishing challenge with newly learnt skills.
City of Vincent - Technology for Seniors: Safer Internet Day
If you missed the morning session, you can attend another cyber-savvy workshop with Terrene Global at City of Vincent Library. Participants will learn about phishing emails, fundamentals on email safety, how to 'see under the hood' of an email, and spot common tell-tale signs of a scam. Computers will be available for use on the day, or you can bring your device.
Recommendation: You can bring your device, but not needed.
Participants will receive a take-home information cyber-savvy scam sheet to remind them of what to look for during the year.
Let's make 2020 a Cyber Safe year and reduce the impact of Cyber Crime in our community.
