One of Sydney's busiest
Shopping Centres located just 1km from the CBD,
Broadway Sydney at 1 Bay St, Ultimo, invites you to
share the love this Mardi Gras . Over the main entrance travellator, you'll find the iconic
Tunnel of Love rainbow arches complete with giant love heart-shapes on the ground floor, along with floor decals and mirror balls, all especially designed to grab that perfect Insta selfie moment.
However, for the ultimate selfie, you might want to check out
Selfie Love, a purpose-built mirror ball room. Step inside the hot pink crate, enjoy the Mardi Gras themed music and take a selfie to share that lovin' feeling with all your friends. Kids can also sign up to the
Rainbow Love Parade (
final session is this
Saturday 6 Mar 2021). For a $10 donation, which goes to Rainbow Families, a support network for the LGBTQ community, kids will be treated to a 45-minute workshop like no other.
The brilliant Drag Queen, Hannah Conda gifts each child with their own Drag Bag of dress up items featuring capes, crowns, pom poms, beads and stick-ons so they can create their own ready-to-wear rainbow coloured costume. Then Sydney's own legendary choreographer DC will teach the kids an entertaining dance routine for them to head off for the ultimate Rainbow Parade down, around and through the Tunnel of Love.
Bookings are essential (no walk-ins) for this
Kids Rainbow Love Parade which will take place at Broadway Sydney, level 3 on the footbridge, near the Play Area.
Book here . To secure your booking for the
remaining 3 sessions (10-10.45am; 11-11.45am; 12-12.45pm) on Sat 6 Mar 2021, you're asked for a $10 donation with all proceeds going to
Rainbow Families NSW. Follow the links given for more details.
East Village (in close proximity to SCG) has also stepped up its glitter game with the return of the hugely popular
Disco Lift. COVIDSafe, it follows restrictions with a maximum 4 people at a time, but the music will be pumping just as loud, so you can dance like no one is watching. If the lift isn't your thing, take a selfie in front of their own
Selfie Love installation in front of Coles, also
live now until the end of Mardi Gras, or stop by the
Glitter Bar for everything you need to sparkle up your hair, face and beard.
Next stop, hit the Village Crown for their COVIDSafe parade-day events. They'll be hosting Drag Bingo and screening the parade for all those who couldn't nab a ticket. South Eveleigh features rainbow installations for social moments and drag performances throughout the precinct from 3 well-known local performers coming into the precinct from diverse backgrounds.
Nana Miss Koori is a
Gadigal Elder and an absolute delight to watch onstage.
NMK is a pioneer of
First Nations LGBTQ representation.
Peach Fuzz is a resident drag queen from
The Imperial, a performance artist working across Sydney theatre productions and is living with Tourette's syndrome. And finally, South Eveleigh's first drag king,
Gabriel Angel who performs across many of Sydney's adored LGBTQ events.
Finally, to celebrate Mardi Gras, Mirvac is inviting anyone across Australia to
'Share the Love' by posting a story to Instagram and tagging @sharetheloveformardigras . For every story shared a $1 donation will be made to ACON. Plus
every person who shares a story will go into the draw to win over $1,500 worth of prizes including $1000 shopping voucher, $500 Bonds gift voucher; so share the love!
