This Thursday is Harmony Day and Pilgrim Uniting Church is hosting a pop-up art installation in collaboration with Safe Harbour Australia and Justice4RefugeesSA.

Pop Up Art Installation
The art installation is comprised of hundreds of balsa wood boats painted by people in the community - old and young alike. Julian Burnside has also contributed a boat. The boats bring to mind the treacherous journey many refugees have made in order to reach safe shores where they can find safety and protection.

The art installation is a testament to the courage of refugees and asylum seekers all over the world, who face the terrors of the sea rather than risk returning to their homeland where all joy has been stolen from them by violence, persecution, war and deprivation.

Learning the Way of Peace
The pop-up art installation will be a contribution to Harmony Day, with a plea that we learn the way of peace, and live it together, so the horrors of violence may cease.

Paint Your Own Boat
We encourage people to stop by for a chat, paint a boat to add to the collection, show support for a tolerant, inclusive, multicultural society and celebrate the contribution refugees and asylum seekers have made to enrich the fabric of Australian society.

The installation will be on the forecourt of Pilgrim Uniting Church on Harmony Day, March 21 from 10am - 3pm @ 12 Flinders St, Adelaide and along Splash Lane adjacent to the western side of the church.
