We won't all get to Africa to photograph animals in the wild. And while some people are adverse to photographing animals in zoos, those who have been to Werribee's amazing Open Range Zoo know that the animals are free-roaming, so their environment is as close to the savannahs as imaginable.

And this wildlife photography course is onboard a safari bus! In this course, you meet at the zoo, and after a short introduction, board the safari bus to travel out to meet rhinos, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and more.

Unlike a typical bus this one goes "off-road" to have close encounters with some fantastic animals and, most importantly, photograph them in an environment without cages and fences. The safari bus goes for over an hour, and the photography team will guide you around the rest of Werribee Zoo, including a chance to photograph cheetahs, gorillas, hippopotamuses, lions, meerkats, and many others.

The price includes bus hire and zoo admission (the cost of zoo admission is normally $46 for adults). Due to the vehicle size, the class is limited to 10 students and two teachers.

Bring your camera, charged camera batteries, and memory cards for lots of great photos. Medium and bigger zooms are perfect for this class.

This class is an all-weather event. The leader has been working in photography for over 30 years and has recently completed 10 years of running photography courses at Michaels Media School in Melbourne's CBD.
