A showdown of surreal proportions
What happens when an Aussie digger and Mary Poppins come together? Madness is the answer. InSad Digger Mad Mary theatre maker Tom Halls explores the repatriation of a digger in a surreal and unnerving exploration at La Mama Courthouse.
First presented as part of the 2015 Melbourne Fringe Festival, Hall and director Yvonne Virsik come together to revisit this dark tale. Sad Digger Mad Mary is a solo show where the commercialization of the iconic digger is interwoven with a surreal re-imagining of everyone's favourite nanny.
Halls is known for challenging the relationship between the audience and the performer, and Hotel Now has a reputation for immersive and gloriously entertaining productions. This memoir of madness is steered by award-winning director Virsik who also directed their recent production at the Butterfly Club, What's Yours Is Mine.
Hotel Now believe the audience experience starts from the moment they arrive until the moment they leave so get ready for a unique night of theatre. Hurry up and book your tickets to Sad Digger Mad Mary because this is a seriously short season. As Hotel Now like to say - 'If not NOW, when?'
