Cheltenham op shopping just got even better
It's coming and I'm excited! Why?
1. Because the Sacred Heart op shops are normally great, pretty individual in character and the funds raised go towards some essential services in Melbourne and its surrounds.
2. Because it is open on Sunday, which means I can visit the Cheltenham Rotary Market.
The Sacred Heart Mission has 9 other op shops in and around Melbourne. They run a number of programs supporting Melbourne's homeless and socially isolated. They have services in St Kilda, Melbourne's South East and accommodation for women in Reservoir and Thomastown.
To celebrate the new store, they are having a grand opening on Wednesday, September 7th between 6pm and 9pm.
The website tells us they will have "loads of quality pre-loved items including clothing, jewellery and fashion accessories. There's also lots of lovely items for the home - something special for the kitchen, fun dining and the outdoors - plus a host of knick-knacks, thingamajigs and decorator items designed to put a smile on your face but not a dent in your wallet or purse."
I love op shopping for the knick-knacks and thingamajigs.
You can find the store at 261 – 277 Charman Road Cheltenham. It's one of four other op shops in Cheltenham all within walking distance of the train station.
It's going to be open seven days a week between 10 am and 5 pm, so a great option for those that struggle to donate Monday to Friday. They are also keen for some local volunteers so if you can spare a few hours please get in touch with them via their website.
Cheltenham also has some great cafe's so you can grab a coffee in between op shop stops.
