Refugee Week is Australia's peak annual event to raise awareness about the issues affecting refugees, including describing multiculturalism, anti-racism and human rights, and celebrating cultural diversity. In talking about refugees the public are asked to explore how as people, we are not so different from each other.
An exhibition by young artists seeks to raise awareness about the issues affecting refugees and to celebrate the positive contributions made by refugees to Australian society.
Age is no barrier to raising human rights issues. There are many young people who create, speak out and work to highlight issues affecting refugees. Students from primary to tertiary level will create posters that celebrate the UN International Refugee Convention by communicating how refugees are welcomed, become part of, or contribute to the Australian "family".
The exhibition is free and on at the Kerry Packer Civic Gallery, 55 North Terrace, Hawke Building. It will be on from
June 9th to 30th, 2015.
