Let's face it rubbish is unpleasant, in our homes, on our streets and in our environment and there is no doubt that rubbish left in and around our beaches has a devastating impact on animals, marine life and plant biology.



We see photos of our stunningly beautiful beaches, all pristine and white and rubbish free, but is that the reality? These photos do not generally show the high levels of plastic, nets, fishing gear, detergents, fertilisers and sewage choking our oceans. They also do not show the excruciating pain suffered by animals and marine life when these pollutants and consumed blocking breathing passages and stomachs.



So what can we all do? We all have a responsibility to ensure that we do not add to the problem and take all rubbish away from our beach excursions to dispose of responsibly, but there is also a need to remediate what is already clogging our beaches and oceans.



You can do your bit to help protect the beauty of our natural earth on Sunday 22 September 2019 from 10 am to 12 pm by helping out at the Glenelg Beach Clean being run by Our Coast Our Mission.



Those wishing to participate meet at Glenelg Beach next to the jetty at 10 am for a quick safety briefing and directions for the day. Gloves, bags and tongs will be provided, you just need to bring yourself and a willingness to help. At 11.30 am, you will meet back at the starting point for a group photo and to document the findings from the day.

Come along and do your bit to make things better.
