Show you care - just be there
How the year goes quickly - already Christmas is nearly upon us, with Santa bringing wanted and unwanted gifts.

Unfortunately, the dearly wanted and longed for Christmas gift of a pet dog or cat can turn sour very quickly, resulting in the so-called 'loving owners' giving up their 'presents' to the local animal welfare organisation for whatever reason.

I was listening to an ad on the radio the other day calling for donations and support to a certain animal welfare organisation and the spokesperson gave the scenario of a certain gentleman turning up at this certain animal welfare organisation's doors on Christmas Day with an 'unwanted' dog - all because it stole a sausage from the BBQ, all the while demanding "could you hurry up please - I need to get back to our Christmas party". Times like these I'm ashamed to be a human.

Luckily for cats and dogs alike there's SA Dog Rescue who despite its doggie name also rescues cats and kittens from an untimely demise.

Come along to SA Dog Rescue's Christmas Party at Botanic Park this Saturday, 30th November between 11am and 4pm. Ideally 'come bearing gifts' (cat/dog food, treats and toys will be greatly appreciated).

For the kids and humans, there'll be a visit from Santa, face painting; a Scooby Doo jumping castle (very fitting - given the occasion); Bush Tucker Ice-cream; vegan and meat BBQ and kids art and craft.

For your four-legged family members, there'll be a range of Christmas gifts on offer for your (or their selection) and your family dogs are welcome to join in the fun!

So, let's 'give it up' to SA Dog Rescue and their wonderful, dedicated team of volunteers and help bring some cheer to those most in need.
