I love trying new food and new restaurants. My other passions are Origami and Pokémon

Part of the Soho Hotel located at Flinders Street, S2 Thai on Flinders offers a wide range of delicious Thai food. The somewhat unusual name of the restaurant was chosen by the owner due to the similar shape the characters "S2" have to a love-heart when they are placed side by side.

The pieces of hoki in their Street Chilli Deep-Fried Fish were of a good size, and the crisp coating set off the flesh perfectly. The restaurant's Thai chilli sauce gave the dish a delectable spicy taste with a hint of sweetness, and the deep-fried Thai basil leaves added a bit of crunch to the dish.

Red Curry and Green Curry are dishes you can expect to find at any Thai restaurant. The chicken in the Red Curry we ordered was tender and complemented by a selection of vegetables that still had a crunch. We opted for medium degree of spiciness for the curry, which heightened the taste of the ingredients without being too hot.

Great for those that want something a bit different, the pieces of roast duck in their Roast Duck Salad were cooked just right and the generous amount of vegetables used balanced out the duck with their fresh taste. The most notable ingredient was green apple, which added a bit of crispiness and sweetness to the dish. All the ingredients were dressed in a pla dressing, which delivered a potent spicy hit to the dish.

For entrée, we had Grilled Squid cooked to perfection, partnered by cabbage. Drizzled over the squid was a zap sauce which gave the dish a bit of spiciness, which is mild enough for those not used to spicy foods to enjoy.

Should you choose to have lunch there, the restaurant offers a lunch special for $12.80 consisting of your choice of a main dish, a salad, and rice, brown rice or vermicelli noodles. Ambience of the restaurant was quite causal with a good amount of parking space on the street where the restaurant is located. We enjoyed 50% off our total bill by taking advantage of Dimmi 50% off sale.
