Rymill Park

I am an 18 year old athlete hoping to make the AFL draft or play for cricket Australia. Studying Bachelor of Media at Adelaide university, I wish to be a slightly controversial yet humorous media personality after an illustrious sporting career.

Situated on the East Parklands of Adelaide, South Australia, Rymill Park is located on the corner of Rundle Road and East Terrace. It was almost perfect weather when I visited this spacious park for a simple picnic to farewell a friend. Lush green grass stretched as far as the eye can see, with trees evenly distributed to depict a natural picture. Because it was a Saturday afternoon, I thought Rymill Park would resemble a music festival or parkland in the heart of a major city in China, but the more I visit, the more I realise that it seems that every day that you visit, it attracts the perfect amount of people to paint the perfect atmosphere.

Reasonably clean barbeques are littered among the grass, allowing plenty of space to play ball games with trees to act as goals. Playgrounds with some equipment I would never have dared imagined also catered for all ages, as the teenagers bonded with the young children to explore and play around with the equipment. Such equipment included many spinny objects, a basic playground, a plethora of swings and other equipment that a simple man like me would never understand.

Rymill Park offers trails and quiet, natural sounds for some thoughtful walking on your own or with a loved one, as the paths generally are near a shallow lake you can always dip your foot in. Boats are always available for a romantic paddle, unless your sole intention is to capsize your boat leaving all within it drenched, thenů it's not so romantic.

If you're looking for a quiet walk, a paddle on the lake or what I did and have a gathering with friends, Rymill Park fits the perfect atmosphere nicely. Apart from the vibrant playgrounds and the subtle paths blending with the grass, it looks untouched by humankind.
