Bag a bargain while helping the environment
If it wasn't for the sign out the front, The Rustic Swan could initially be mistaken for a homewares and collectable giftshop.
It's clear the store has been carefully curated and decorated to appeal to many. Unlike most antique stores, each area has a clear category. So, if you're looking for China teacups, you head to the kitchen area and if you're after collectable petrol cans, you head to the garage section. Never have I ever seen such an organised, dare I say, clean, antique shop.
Beautiful display of antique China at The Rustic Swan
There's a plethora of hidden treasures here such as good quality clothes and shoes, children's toys and even a selection of handmade cards. The standard 'antique shop' stock is there with mirrors, frames, bottles and crates, but they are so beautifully presented it doesn't feel overwhelming.
It sounds cliché but in an increasingly eco-conscious world, there really is something for everyone at The Rustic Swan. Recycled goods, antique furnishings and rare collectables are amongst the selection, so whether you're a bargain hunter or a seasoned antique collector, you won't be disappointed with your visit!
While the selection is impressive, the owner, Mavis, commented that the majority of her sales are actually customers requesting her to find specific items. After running the store for 5 years, she has a book full of requests, so feel free to ask if there is something you have been hunting for!
Mavis confirmed my hunch when she mentioned her store represents interior design rather than antiques specifically. She enjoys helping customers envision how they will display their goodies from her store. She also offers upholstery and wallpaper services, so can really help you turn your house into a home.
