Soak up the sun at this sea-pool enclosure
In the quiet suburb of Redland Bay, there are some pretty beautiful walks and little swimming holes to nestle into for the day. One of my absolute favourites is Ruster's Reserve, which you will find a short less than 5 minute drive from cafes, the pub known as Redland Bay Hotel and supermarkets to cover all your needs for a relaxing day by the water.
Head along the main road (Weinam) south from Redland Bay's hub, take a left onto Moores Road and follow to a T like junction that becomes The Blvd to the right and Esplanade to the left. In the middle you will see the sign for Rusters Reserve. Free parking is available on both Esplanade and The Blvd allowing a short walk down the steps to the swimming hole.
Make sure to bring your furry friends if you have one. The reserve is a well-known Dog-friendly spot amongst locals so you and your pooch can make some friends at the beach. There are shark nets also on the relatively calm water so it is child-friendly and protected from the nasties of the ocean.
Take a walk along the water to the Mangroves, your dog will thank you after a trip here.
If you want to take a wander around Redland Bay or are feeling a bit peckish, I can definitely recommend a serving of hot chicken & chips and gravy from Chickens By The Bay in the hub of Redland Bay. The owners are lovely and they make the best fries/potato chips I have ever had to date! Plus there is an IGA, op clothes shopping, a chemist and much more if you're in need of being a little productive whilst enjoying yourself.
