Russian Resurrection Film Festival


The annual Russian Resurrection Film Festival is back for the 16th year and tickets are now on sale for the Brisbane sessions. The festival will be held from Wednesday 2nd November to Wednesday 9th November 2016.



The program aims to present the best works of Russian filmmakers and winners of national and international contests and festivals. The films cover a range of different genres. There are some retrospective films which have been digitally remastered classics including Ivan the Terrible, Alexander Nevsky, King Lear, and Love in the USSR.

The opening night will feature the suspense filled and yet to be released in Russia - Icebreaker based on real events when a huge iceberg stopped 'Mikhail Gromov' off the coast of Antarctica. There will be food, drinks and a live band.

Some of the highlights showing this year are:
The Student a recent Cannes Film Festival hit by award-winning director Kirill Serebrennikov.
All that Jam a romantic comedy starring Australian actor, Martin Dingle Wall
Flight Crew a number one at the Russian Box Office this year
Moscow Never Sleeps a wonderful examination of the fractures between love and ambition set in the capital city.
The Good Boy a romantic comedy which won this year's audience award at the Kinotvr Film Festival.

All films have English subtitles.

The festival will be held at Event Cinemas Myer, Centre Brisbane Level 3 Myer Centre, Elizabeth Street, Brisbane.
