Who doesn't like great wine and tapas
Part of the fun in planning a night out to see one of the many spectacular shows in and around QPAC, (Queensland Performing Arts Centre), is finding a groovy little place to hang out for the eats and drinks beforehand. We discovered this great little wine bar recently and it has exactly the right style of food and atmosphere to prepare you well, before your show.
Located on level one of the Playhouse, make sure you get to this wine bar early to have enough time to indulge in beautiful tapas and share plate options, from their wonderfully simple and elegant menu.
We shared pizzetta, topped with pumpkin, feta and roman artichokes along with the 'potted pie duo', which was a delicate chicken and leek and a potato and beef pie. I always like an accompanying salad and my choice was a goats cheese, pear, candied walnut salad. Absolutely devine.

The menu is delicious with very reasonable prices, varying from around $11.50 up to $16, depending upon what you choose. (prices are subject to change at anytime)

[/I]Mood lighting with comfortable chairs and artwork on the walls, makes this a 'feel good' pre-show experience. Of course, you don't have to actually be going to a show to be able to pop in and spend time here, so there is no reason for you not to try this place out.
I was also impressed with the extensive international wine list and you can also treat yourself to coffee and gourmet petit fours. Now, after all that, you should be ready for your show.
Note that, the Russell Street Wine Bar opens 2 hours before performances in the Playhouse Theatre, (which is usually at the time of 5.30pm), and is also open for Playhouse post show dining. So if you would like to come here but are going to a show in a venue other than the Playhouse, i.e QPAC just make sure this wine bar has a show on that evening and will be open.
If your visit to the Russell Street Wine Bar, is not for a pre-show appetiser for you, you can plan for a casual night out and then take a lovely casual evening stroll along the Brisbane River through the South Bank Parklands.
