Irish former soap star Adele Rafferty is struggling to make it as an actor in Hollywood when she gets the job offer of her dreams. A production company back in Ireland is making a horror movie and they need a last-minute replacement for the star. Keen for her big break, Adele agrees to fly to West Cork and work at a set in the middle of the woods. Once she arrives she finds she is working at night with a skeleton crew with no other women on set. She gets a mysterious text message warning her that she is not safe, and soon she fears that the stranger may be right.

Run Time is a gripping new thriller by Irish writer Catherine Ryan Howard, author of The Liar's Girl and The Nothing Man%%.

The premise was fun, with all of its layers. The movie, Final Draft is about a woman called Kate staying at a cabin in her woods with her boyfriend. While she is there she reads a novel that was apparently written by an author who stayed at the same cabin, about a couple staying there who were murdered. The events of Kate's life start to mirror those of the novel, and then similar things begin to happen to Adele, the actress playing Kate.

Unfortunately, after all the buildup the ending was kind of silly and a bit of a letdown. I did enjoy the writing style, and the commentary on the sexism within the film industry, and there are some pretty tense, creepy moments earlier on. Run Time is a readable thriller that will probably appeal most to fans of slasher movies.
