Adventure in the great outdoors
Adventure happens in the great outdoors right, so what are we waiting for? Let's all sign up to Sole Motive's 'Run The Rock 2018' and challenge our minds, bodies and souls to cover our chosen event distance, in the stunning surrounds of Hanging Rock.
Afterwards, we could use the fun run as a great excuse to reward our stomachs for our 'hard work' with a visit Grist Artisan Bakers in Kynton for an almond croissant, or maybe scrambled eggs on sourdough toast from one of the towns many cafes. Better still, why not make a weekend out of it and escape to Daylesford (40 min drive away) for the night, or stay at the Macedon Ranges Hotel & Spa with hot springs, massages and food, glorious food. Seriously does life get much better than that!
Just starting out on your fitness journey, have a mild injury, or wanting to see how fast you can cover the shortest distance in Run The Rock? Well, the 5km walk/run looks like a perfect option.
The 5km run/walk event starts in the Eastern Paddocks and heads out onto Straws Lane running along sealed country roads before completing a lap around the base of Hanging Rock on a cross-country trail and finishing back on the race track. - From the website
Up for a bigger challenge? You're in luck! This year Sole Motive have added a 22km (half marathon) option along with a 13.5km loop.
The 13.5km and 22km events start in the Eastern Paddocks with the finish line on the centre of the race track. The course features varied terrain, from a grassed race track, to country sealed and gravel roads. From the start line, the 13.5km and 22km events head towards Straws Lane on a gravel trail then complete a section on country roads and trails before re-entering the Hanging Rock reserve to run around the base of Hanging Rock on a cross-country trail, entering the race course to head to the finish line. - From the webpage
I hear you thinking "I can't get there", "It's a long drive", "I don't have anyone to go with" - No excuses! Jump on board Run The Rock shuttle bus departing from Richmond train station at 6:15am on the morning of the event and returning later in the day between 1:45-2pm for only $30 (limited seats available).
