The Age Run Melbourne is an annual event that includes a half marathon, 10km run, 5km run/walk and a 3km childrens event. The run supports over 400 different charities and has raised a total of $4.7 million.
I have done plenty of fun runs, in the city including Run For The Kids, Variety's Santa fun run, Australia day fun runs and so on. I have never heard of the Run Melbourne fun run before, maybe I need to read The Age instead of the Herald Sun?
I found it on a website for Autism. Our daughter has just been diagnosed and I have been looking for more information. Whilst browsing I discovered Run Melbourne was a fundraiser for Autism and I thought, "What a great way to get involved and support this wonderful charity".
Whilst Autism affects myself and family, you may have another charity that affects you and your family that you wish to support. You can nominate your charity when filling in your entry form.
Not only is Run Melbourne great for charities, it's also heaps of fun and a great way to keep you fit and motivated over winter.
Whist you may not find it appealing going out jogging in the rain, once you get out there with the cool breeze on your face, fresh air in your lungs and your heart pumping, there is nothing quite like it. It's just you in the elements, nobody else embracing the crazy winter weather but you.
So come on, get fit, get out there, have fun and join me in the Run Melbourne event and do your bit to support charity.
Check out run4autism.net I have launched a new fundraising site where people choose which autism organisation they want to support and what event they want to participate in anywhere in Australia. To launch the site I am running 12 marathons in 12 months. Please follow the site as I'm sure it will gain many followers as the year progresses.
