in Doncaster/Templestowe is a delightful parkland and wetland area with multiple terrains and family-friendly facilities. This 68 hectare park is bordered by streets named after well-known English monarchs - King, George and Victoria.

Adjacent to Victoria Street, beside the brightly coloured polygon sculpture, there is a creatively designed-adventure playground and two flying foxes suitable for young children.

Walk past the the barbecue shelters, down the path towards Ruffey Creek and you'll soon find yourself surrounded by fir trees and native bush.

You'll also pass a high rock wall with signs warning against rock climbing and abseiling. Cross a foot bridge over the creek and the bush soon gives way to undulating expanses of lawns that surround a tranquil lake.

The park caters to joggers, walkers, cyclists and picnickers and attracts people with other recreational interests. I've been witness to battles between grown men with toy guns and a father and son racing their remote-controlled monster trucks along a footpath. Dogs too enjoy this park and can't resist plunging into the lake in pursuit of gliding ducks.

For those curious about the history and development of the area, there are several information boards throughout the park that mark a heritage trail.
