If you are into music, particularly jazz, classical or opera, is an absolute must. It has been purpose renovated for for quality high end performances and is run by a passionate owner. No expense has been spared when creating a place to enjoy music. I hear that the stage represents $150 000 alone. It features a very large and very grand Steinway piano.

Every furnishing detail at is classy. The floor is polished parquetry and the light fittings certainly make a statement. They are a combination of large pendants and wrought iron chandeliers. Event the female toilets boast a chandelier. I didn't check the men's.

I am not sure if it's urban gossip or not but apparently the venue was named after the owners' late dog. It seems viable since a large friendly dog greets visitors and roams the premises.

Situated in Little Lonsdale Street, near the corner of Exhibition Street, is just a short walk from many vibrant cafes such as the Laksa Bar and Trunk. Look out for the sign on the front of the shop that is ordained with Cuban dolls and other international ornaments. Follow the signs down the lane, turn right at the first corner and you can't miss the bright yellow door (and the dog).

On the night we went it was quiet at 8pm but the jazz melodies were most enjoyable. The owner told me the Thursday quartet (double bass, piano, trumpet and saxophone) was semi professional each player with day jobs. You could tell they loved playing such mellow music, albeit for a small audience. is an intimate venue that seats about 80 people.

We saw a comic's performance ( Bryce Halliday) and he was then followed by another musical performance. Tickets were very reasonable at only $22 or $15 for concession holders.

This venue is certainly unique. The walls are decorated with shelves of Cuban dolls. Each doll signifies the struggles and rights of women and acknowledges the history of black women and slavery. Their attire represents love, peace, harmony and spirituality. There's much more to this story but you'll have to ask the owner.

The only place I have ever been that has a similar feel is in New Orleans. The owner claims that it is not the same as anything else in town. So if you'd like to kick back while being served food, drink and be entertained in an impressive music joint, put this on your 'to do list'.
