Shakespeare is to have once said "If only thinking made it so "; and so begins the premise of the new film – Ruby Sparks : A writer who hits a road-block in his literary career, unknowingly writes his latest inspiration into reality.

Imagine being a 19 year-old novelist who has a best-selling book, but hasn't been able to write anything significant for the past 10 years since his initial success (he hasn't been having success with the ladies either). Given advice by his therapist (of all people) to write a short story, he has a dream in which he inevitably meets the 'girl of his dreams'. Inspired by this, he names the girl Ruby Sparks (hence the title) and decides that she will be the central character in his next novel.

However, the next day, he comes downstairs to meet none other than Ruby Sparks in the flesh, in his house, alive. He realises that everything he writes controls ultimately controls her every move, and so they begin their life together. 'She's everything he wants, and therein lies the problem'.

Starring Paul Dano and Zoe Kazan, the new flick is one that creatively combines 'a fantasy, a character study, and a cautionary tale all rolled into one.' It causes one to think "What would I do in this situation?" Although one's initial impulse is to write in every desire possible, as the movie unfolds, these small decisions can have major repercussions, especially when dealing with a living human being, not an imagination of the mind. The movie is filled with humor, emotion and an interesting twist at the end. If you like comedies, this is definitely a film you should consider watching. For more information, head to your local cinema or visit the official website .

So grab your friends to see the new movie – Ruby Sparks. At least one thing is certain – the lead actors just happen to be a real-life couple. In cinemas September 20.
