Each year, the RSPCA rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes large numbers of domestic animals. It also lobbies on behalf of animals to prevent cruelty to animals in all its forms. Animal protection is at the heart of this wonderful organisation. Money raised through entry fees to the Million Paws Walk, the sale of merchandise and online fundraising help to fund the important and critical work this organisation undertakes, including providing shelter for lost or abandoned animals.
In Melbourne, the walk takes place around the picturesque Albert Park Lake and is 5km long. Besides the walk, there will also be a festival of entertainment for people and dogs alike. Live entertainment, food trucks, veterinary advice, dog washes, and fun exhibits will ensure you both have a great day out! You can also enter one of the very popular pet dog competitions and the opportunity to win prizes on the day.
