RSPCA's Australian mission statement is: " To prevent cruelty to animals by actively promoting their care and protection". To do this costs money and the Million Paws Walk is one of RSPCA's, best fundraisers. Each year, the RSPCA has over 250,000 animals needing care, hence a million paws.

The 2018 Million Paws Walk is on again at Sir James Mitchell Park in South Perth on Sunday, 20th May. The day starts at 8:30 am with the walk at 11 am, all should be finished by 2 pm. Depending on how energetic you are, there's a1 km, 2.5km or 5km walk for the more enthusiastic. (I know which one I'm going to do).

Tickets prices are outlined on the website below. Prices vary for adults, child, family and concessions. If you want to save more, register online before the day of the walk and take advantage of the early bird discount on ticket prices - visit the web site for more information.

All pooches, slick and furry, old and young, stout and slender are welcome, as long as they bring their owners. It doesn't matter if you don't have a dog, you're still welcome. For the pawtection of other pooches, please ensure your pet is vaccinated, socialised and friendly. It's impawtant.

If you are one of the early walkers, there's a range of entertaining and fun things to take part in for you your whole family. I'm not going to worry about the agility course, my furry beloved would look at me, sit down and refuse to move. Not to worry, there is also a pet parade and even better, a costume parade (for them, not you). There is going to be market stalls, live music, entertainment, loads of foods plus exciting new doggie pawducts for you both to test. And if that isn't enough, free vet checks at locations around Sir James Mitchell Park to make sure your poochkins is fit to go!

How about raffles with prizes donated by local businesses.

Parking for a gold coin, is at Sir James Mitchell Park, just off Mill Point Road and Coode Street, South Perth. I suggest you do arrive early, as from experience, parking can be at a premium.

The RSPCA is a non-profit organisation. Joining the walk is a fun family day, plus a way to be part of raising funds for the RSPCA and show support for animals in need. For further information, visit the website .
