Join the walk with your 4 legged friends for fun in the sun
The RSPCA Million Paws Walk is on Sunday 15 May 2016. This is a highlight the calendar of thousands of pet lovers.
More than 20,000 Queenslanders and their 4 legged friends step out each year to walk in support of animals in need. A great day out for families and all for a great cause. Even if you don't have your own precious pooch, it doesn't matter, walkers are welcome to join in with or without man's best friend.
Queensland is spoilt for choice over the number of places hosting the Million Paws Walk this year. Cities all over the state are holding their own walk. In Brisbane, the main walk leaves from Southbank at 10am with on the day registrations opening at 8.30am. Other events are held at outer Brisbane suburbs, Bundaberg, Cairns, Chinchilla, Gold Coast, Noosa, Gympie, Mackay, Rockhampton, Airlie Beach and many more areas. See the location directory on the official website for a walk event in your area.
There is entertainment, coffee carts, loads of stalls, mouth-watering food, competitions and loads of giveaways. Some locations, including Southbank, have dog agility competitions and on stage entertainment.
Of course, to ensure a healthy and happy day, all dogs who join the walk must be fully vaccinated, friendly and social. They must be used to mixing with other people and seeing other dogs. All breeds, sizes and ages are welcome, they just need to be socialised.
This event is so well supported each year, thousands of happy families with their even happier dogs, walking along in the Autumn sun. What a great day out.
It's about more than a great day out though. When you complete your entry you get to start your fundraising (if you choose to). The goal for RSPCA (Qld) is $600,000. With so many families fundraising for a great cause, as well as the merchandise sales, events and activities on the day, essential money is raised each year to support animals in need. The funds go towards essential care, veterinary treatment, food and shelter for more than 15,000 dogs that RSPCA Qld cares for each year.
Sign up today and make your beloved four legged family friend happy, and raise money to give another dog a second chance at a healthy and happy life. Every dollar raised matters.
