The Royal Oak Hotel in plush Double Bay is a bar and restaurant with a split personality, offering two sections, one a high end dining experience and the other a casual bar.

The hotel's entire front section has been renovated into an upmarket restaurant. It's a good venue for a date night with attentive service, a modern Australian and tapas menu.

The front exterior offers an alfresco dinning experience with sidewalk tables that mixes well with the high end designers and boutiques that surround the establishment.

The back bar, popular with boarding school alumni, with it's high glass atrium offers a good place for a drink, to watch the football on huge screens or a gathering of friends. It's a quieter option than the Golden Sheaf nearby and skews older.

The back bar vibe is friendly and laid back compared to the posh restaurant in front.

The adjacent bottle shop offers a well stocked take away service.
