It's Saturday mid-morning and my phone displays an SMS "I'm going to check out some blues at the Royal Mail, if you're interested". With nothing doing, I jumped at the chance.

The Royal Mail Hotel , Goodna, is home to so much live music, it almost bursts with it. Friday night, Saturday afternoon and evening and regularly on Sundays as well. When we were there, the Dillion James Band was playing, with a different line-up than last time I saw him (read my review here ). Dillion James on keys, joined by Brodie Graham on guitar, Jasper Lambert on bass and Billy Bakos on drums, which gave it a slightly more funky feeling, with long jams, with lots of call and response and chance for each musician to showcase their talent. Dillion and Brodie even swapped instruments and showed their multi-instrumental skills.

The crowd are of the earth.html salt of the earth people, and there's a cheap and cheerful lunch menu, which includes some smaller nibbles, and more substantial meals like steak sandwiches, and chicken burgers, served with chips. I paid $10 for a steak sandwich (pictured above) and struggled to eat all the chips.

So, go for a drive and check out some live music next weekend. The Royal Mail, Goodna is located at 92 Brisbane Terrace, Goodna. For up-to-date listings of acts, go to their webpage here .
