You'll have to go looking for this restaurant because it's off the main Plenty Road behind McDonald's. It is for this reason I am surprised that they are always incredibly busy. I have seen this shop a few times when I have visited the up-market Four Doors restaurant next door. Each time I have noticed queues out the door and the shop is absolutely packed.

I did think that by now the novelty may have worn off, but obviously the locals have really taken to it. The distance of time seems to have only compounded the interest. We went early in the evening and mid week and we were still unable to get a table because we had not booked.

I think it says a lot that so many people are still hanging out the door so long after they have opened this back street shop. This is a vibrant busy shop with waiters and people going everywhere. We noticed some of the huge meals being delivered and I mean really, really huge. Some of the single serves would be enough to feed our whole family.

I must make comment about the young waitress who seems to be enjoying her job and who referred to me as 'love.' I would normally not like this sort of attention or reference, but for some reason she carried it off well and it was very endearing. As we were newcomers I had a lot of questions and she was very patient to answer all of them.

We only had kebabs but there are lots more things on the menu, for example pides and some incredible looking desserts such as ladyfingers and my all time favorite cheese cakes (supersize).

There were two types of kebabs. One with spit meat, either lamb or chicken, or mixed (only $10). There was also a falafel option which I chose and it was a soft melt in your mouth 'I'd love to have this right now again' type falafel. The other was meat cooked on skewers and you could choose your own fresh salad ($14). You can choose to add to the standard salads that I was served with the kebabs. The kebabs were served in the softest slightly toasted Turkish bread. I'm hanging out for one just writing this review.

Honestly, these are the best value meals that I've ever bought. I was able to have some of mine the next day. Unlike many takeaway meals I cannot wait to go back. I'll leave the rest of the review to my family who couldn't rave enough about the food.

Here are the glowing comments by my family:These were the best kebabs I've ever had by far' 19-year-old son'They were unreel' 20-year-old son's friend'The meat was tender; they smelt of delicious garlic, the bread was divine. I really enjoyed them' 13-year-old daughter'Those kebabs for a conversation killer. I am definitely going back' Adult male'They were memorable. I can't wait to get another one' 11-year-old son.

Roxy also have kebab stores in Deer Park and Broadmeadows.
