The new diner Route 45 is a diner with a difference - it has soul, a great ambience and even greater value for very good quality food! Opened approximately 2 months ago in Prahran, Route 45 is based on an American diner concept. It features a menu that includes popular American-style food such as burgers, wings, ribs, steaks, hot dogs and shakes. High quality, cooked to order, the food is fresh and delicious. The chicken tenders I tasted were made using a coating mixture with crumbled taco chips and were light, crispy and very yummy.
You can have brunch, lunch or dinner, a quick cup of coffee or a snack and feel totally at home, it's that kind of place. The coffee is excellent and at $2.50, must be the best value coffee in Melbourne. The many specials will no doubt attract many locals as well as Melburnians from further afar in search of a good meal as well as a good deal.
Happy hour is on every day from 4-6 pm as well as from 8-9 pm which means cocktails are $8 and wine and beer $5 a glass/schooner. During Happy Hour wings are an unbelievable $1! Currently, Route 45 is also offering super value $12 Lunch Specials between Monday and Friday! Your choice is between a NY Classic Burger; Grilled Chicken Burger; Veggie Burger; Hot Dog 10-inch; Calamari Salad; Fish & Chips. All meals come with Fries & Soft Drink. On Mondays, you can get ribs at half price and Wednesdays, are King Parma and beer for $20. Keep an eye out on the specials on their Facebook page @route45.
The soul and ambience of Route 45 come from the owner, George, his staff and service and the fit-out of the restaurant. A mix of retro and modern, the bright yellow colour accentuated with black makes you feel happy and relaxed. The well-stocked, modern bar with its retro coffee machine invites you to try from the large selection of wines and cocktails and especially at those Happy Hour prices. So what are you waiting for? Come on down and enjoy some of the great food and deals that Route 45 offers.
Situated in Pran Central (opposite Baker's Delight) on the corner of Wattle Street and Cato street, once Prahran Square is open from December 1st, access to the car park will become easier and you can even have your parking paid for by the restaurant if you ask nicely. Route 45 is also at Forest Hill Chase Shopping Centre.
