Rouge - Fringe World Review

A cheeky fun night out thanks to Rouge
Rouge is a little naughty, a little sexy and a lot of bodily strength and skill. The cast of six pepper their show with pinches of opera, burlesque and cabaret.

The show currently playing in the Spiegeltent as part of Perth Fringe World is sure to impress. Performer's bodies intertwine, lift and support one another in a number of acrobatic displays that make the most difficult manoeuvres look as if they are done with ease.

Rouge has been aptly described as a 'circus for grown-ups', there are ropes, trapeze, hula hoops, a cyr wheel (what looks like an oversized hoop) and even a leather whip.

But audiences will be equally as impressed with the sheer strength shown in the acts that require no props (I won't give away the best bits but I'll just say, they involve some amazing neck strength and impressive focus and balance).

Hitting the stage for Rouge in the Perth shows are Isabel Hertaeg, Paul Westbrook, Andre Augustus, Annalise Moore, Chris Carlos and Jessie McGibbons.

The show itself is produced by Highwire Entertainment, a Melbourne-based production house.

Rouge is playing at the West Australian Spiegeltent until February 10.
